Vegas - Super Bowl - roll call 2012

Just booked for this years trip. Only 4 of us. Doing Saturday to Tuesday. Staying on the cheap again - this time at the 'caliber. Never even been into that place, but NY/NY is right across the street and Mandalay Bay next door.
Unfortunately I will not be cashing in any of the futures bets I placed last year, but I have a good feeling about some of them I'm going to make this year.
Anyone else going this year? Anyone care to comment on the 'caliber?
Cheers,
Bob

I figure if the Broncos win out then Tebow is the Anti-Christ.
<< <i>Just wow at the odds right now for the Anti-Christ, err I mean Tebow to win the Super Bowl.

Ah, Excalibur...
You don't see nearly as many children in Vegas as you used to, but if you do see any, it probably means you're at Excalibur.
Their guest rooms are terrible (ours was anyway), old carpet stains, dried toothpaste from the previous guest, blood on the sheet (yes, blood - they had obviously tried to wash it out but it was still visible). Not a good experience. But we had a comped offer, the rooms were free, so we bravely stuck it out.
Second-worst hotel we've ever stayed at (Sahara was the worst).
The casino itself is OK, lots of low-limit tables. The table area stays pretty crowded, but the players seem to come and go faster than in other casinos, maybe because they generally don't know how to play and so they lose their money faster. Drink waitresses were scarce and unattractive. But my wife's biggest slot win ever was at Excalibur so the memories aren't all bad. We try to stop in and play a little each time we go.
Have fun over the weekend, wish I was going. IMO, the best sports book is MGM so you might want to cross the street.
<< <i>I'll be at the Cosmopolitan... but in and out - saturday afternoon to sunday redeye
Mike, this is my new favorite casino - it's an amazing place
Every bit as nice as the Wynn but the clientele is generally a little more "average"

Yep, I've heard it's not so great. But honestly, in Vegas all I need is 2 hots and a cot and I'm fine. And yes, MGM sportsbook is great, but I prefer the one at the Mirage. A little more liberal with the drink tokes.

Early thoughts are to take the GMEN and the over. Stupid????
If you take the over (I think it's at 54), means a fair amount of scoring and that might favor the Pats
Of course it all depends on Gronkowski
<< <i>i will be there from thursday till monday at the palms ...i will go between the palms and the luxors superbowl parties >>
Terry: I've gone to the party at the Playboy Club each of the past 3 years .... always great. Maloof takes care of his folks.
Henri: I love Cosmo too -- had a big weekend there this summer... although the ovens in the suites take a little getting used to (they were built as condos)! Had to laugh at the Sahara comment.... stayed there one SB years ago as I booked last minute... the window in my room literally looked into the parking garage (2nd floor).
Bob: Those budget hotels tend to be rowdy that weekend.... makes it more bearable.

I hope your trip is a great time for all. However, your choice of the Excalibur may put a dent in your happy face. Much better had you selected Mandaly Bay, Palms or the Rio. But, if you are locked in, you're locked in.
You'll know what I mean when you get there...perhaps next year, you'll make other arrangements. Once upon a time not too, too long ago I was RFB at The Mirage (Room, Food, Beverage - comped). I don't play at that level anymore, but The Mirage is a very cool place, as is Bellagio, Paris, Wynn, Caesar's and Venetian.
To perhaps get a "flavor" of what's out there, check out "www.cheapovegas.com". An excellent website that provides a wealth of info.
If you and your buddies want to visit the slum of slums, head downton and visit The Western. DO NOT go at night, DO NOT drink anything not bottled.
Have a great and exciting time. BTW, a visit to the Hard Rock will provide scenery that may well cause a jaw-dropping experience. A place you MUST MUST CHECKOUT is the Voodoo Lounge atop the Rio. The view of the Vegas strip is beyond compare...it's an open air patio. No crappy clothes allowed, only dressy casual will get you on the glass elevator that whips you up the side of the building...yes they have people who will check out the attire. I PROMISE you will see the hottest of the hotties...truly a place not to be missed.
Oh yeah...SB, enjoy da game. Pats 38-24

But...........
Hope it's not too cliche at this point, it's not my first rodeo.
This is an annual trip. Take it mostly with my wife's brothers(she has 4 of them and they're Irish like me). We go there to drink, gamble, and do pharmacuticals.
I've stayed in I think 12 different properties the last 15 years. The bottom line......there is no way I can be dissapointed. I'm the kind of guy that enjoys a good time, not pretentious folks.
As far as the voodoo, or the one at the top of the palms, or the latest, greatest, can't miss, gotta go, wait for 2 hours in line, pay $40 to get in, have no seat, kand look at hotties place.....been there, plan to occasionally been there again, but by no means do I consider them a must do.
Cheetah's for the B shift, that's a must do.
Stil thinking GMEN.
Cheers, bob
Bob
Well, you appear to know the drill...believe it or not, when I first went to the Voodoo there was no dress code, no charge and no wait. The "view" however was spectacular, both near and far. I guess times have really changed.
Hope you have a great trip !!

Doesn't matter where I stay, I always like a little happy hour at Fitzgeralds, a few hands at Binions, a drink (or 3) at the piano bar area at Bellagio, and a look at the talent at the circle bar at Hard Rock. I've been going with the same guys for 20 years, and a couple are strong players who like the newest and greatest.... nice to see them all. The key is to have fun in the spots that float your boat. I can have just as much fun at Fitzys as I can in a cabana at the pool at Cosmo, but if guys weren't RFB'ed I don't think I'd drop the coin.
I love that you mix it up every year, and am sure you boys light it up wherever you go.
However, the real key to happiness and inner peace this year is to bet the Pats

Dare I ask what the line was on that? Good for you!
I'd rather not say which I took.

Watched the game at the Hilton (or now called the LV hotel and convention center) sportsbook. Had a great time. Hit a $12 box Tri waiting for the game to start. Nothing better than hearing "WE GOT A SIGNER!!!" when you're up at the window
