My late FUN report

I arrived in the parking lot at 10:00 AM on Thursday ( the same time that the show opened ),hiked to the entrance and climbed the 3 dozen stairs to registration.Five minutes later I had my name tag ,headed down the escalator to the bourse and made a bee line to our hosts table. After only a five minute wait it was my turn. I submitted a Charlotte and a Dahlonega gold coin that were graded about 20 years ago ( I think that they are a lock for upgrades ) ,2 raw Colonials and a half dime that was in the wrong holder. The ever efficient gals at PCGS had me on my way in no time. I started my tour of the floor in aisle 100. I was looking for PCGS Bust, Seated Liberty and a couple of gold coins all in 58.The offerings were like that old movie star....Slim Pickens. Several hours later I went to look at 4 coins in the Heritage Auction. I was surprised that there was no waiting. After looking at the lots ,I crossed 3 of them off of my list. I spent the rest of the day working my way to the far side of the bourse in aisle 1200. I had to ask for very few coins to be taken out of the cases for me to get a better look at. I did see one dealer that had two stacks, of about 6 each, of $20 Saints in 65 from PCGS and NGC priced at $2080.They were what Laura would call dreck. After finding nothing to purchase ,I headed to my hotel late in the afternoon. On the way there I got a call from PCGS that my half dime was ready.WOW!After eating dinner at Denny's,with the worst service ever,I packed it in for the night.
I got to the show on Friday a little after opening and this time decided to start in aisle 1200 and work my way to aisle 100. A couple of hours later I saw a gold piece that the dealer said was not in his case on Thursday. After a good look with my loupe ,I made the purchase.Things were looking up.I soon saw a half dime that I would need a little time to think about before I bought it. I only saw one 1792 Half Disme , one 1797 Half Dollar ,4 slugs plus 2 others that had problems and not a single 1794 Silver Dollar. I always look for these coins to judge the quality of the offerings.Next I went to look at the exhibits.I did not think that they were up to the usual FUN par. Now it was time to place a bid in the auction.I placed a very high bid on the one coin that I wanted , but was out bid. I toured the floor for a few more minutes and bought the Half Dime that I had been thinking about. All in all it was a good show.
