Not all eBay experience is bad... there are nice buyers out there.

Quick, non-coin story.
I sold a collectible item to a buyer and, due to my error, it was damaged in shipping. I immediately refunded the money and told the buyer to return the item and I would seek a similar item for them. Unable find a similar item, I offered to sell the damaged item at 1/2 price so they could use the balance to pay for appropriate repairs. The buyer accepted but felt I was offering it a a price too low and now we are going back and forth on what price the buyer should pay... my requested 1/2 or a higher amount that the buyer wants to pay. There are nice people out there!!! My last email to the buyer simply said, pay what you think is fair and I will be happy. Wish all transactions were so civil.

I, hopefully, had a similar experience just today....
I sold a Perth coin set to a buyer with only 32 FB in Taiwan. The set was around $700. I got an email from the buyer today that he just received the set, that the coins were perfect however the outer box has a different number than does the COA. Totally my screw up (first time that I've done that one). Anyway, I'm thinking that after nearly a decade of selling coins on Ebay my first neutral or possibly neg was in the making.
I told him that I was VERY sorry and that I'd ship the correct box out today (which I did). I told him that if he would kindly send me the incorrect box back that I'd refund him whatever it cost him to ship it + $20 for his trouble.
He promptly sent me back a nice note saying that he'd do just that and thanked me "very much" for my prompt response.
Still no FB left for me yet, as I'd expect none until he gets the correct box, however, judging by his tone I don't think that he'll neutral or neg me.
Refreshing to have a buyer like this!
i've had between 1000-2000 good experiences and around 5-10 non-pleasant ones
pretty good odds considering all the narrow-minded bone heads on this planet
.
The one thing I am sure of is that it wasn't the purchases I made on ebay. Even the Hello Kitty watch and the green laser, both of which arrived in packages shipped directly from China, could not have stolen my credit card because I paid through paypal and ebay insulates all credit card information.
Ebay is my first choice for many purchases as I feel it is one of the SAFEST places to buy.
