Maid of Orleans

With all the excitement of the NYINC, I do not want to forget that this year is the 600th anniversary of the birth of Jeanne d'Arc. Actually, she was one of my first heros, dating back to my childhood. In her memory, post an item from your collection. This is my favorite. I have no idea of its provenance and the representation is quite feminized, but I love it just the same.

Neat medal. I see the 1412. Can you make out the word on the right? Maybe it is her date of death. Is the medal uniface?

That last "word" could be MCDXXXI. I see the XI clearly.
Anyway, I do not know the nature of the item. Take a look at the reverse:

Harasha, Your medal, from the reverse, now looks like a medallion or marker to me. Maybe cut from a building or tomb or something? Looks like a hallmark on the center reverse. Have you looked into that yet? That thing realy looks old to me, maybe several hundred years. Maybe it is contemporary, wouldn't that be a kick.

I was able to identify the city that is identified with the Coat of Arms on the reverse, but I do not remember what it was.
I am certain that the medallion was pried off of a building at some point. My guess that it once was at a site of reverence and lovingly polished on a regular basis.
