I'm glad he decided to hang it up rather than find another team to play for. He probably would have had a poor season, and the one team legacy would have disappeared.
Hall of the Very Good... Doesn't measure up to the likes of Berra, Bench, Piazza, Carter or Fisk. He's just another great Yankee that sits on the outside looking in like Don Mattingly, Bernie Williams and Ron Guidry.
Thank you Jackstraw, Ted Simmons should be in the hall of fame. It is just wrong that he is not! So many of his numbers are as good or better than the other guys of his era that got in. Just wrong!
