As a collector, do you remove the lot number

... and/or inventory control labels from your HA or SBG newps? Why or why not?

I'm deciding what to do with mine. image

Thx in advance. image

I remove them as I just like a clean slab personally. I keep all invoices, etc... so if i ever need access to a lot # or auction date I can find it easily (probably just as easy to find it in an online archive as well)...

I remove all stickers from any encapsulated coin I buy, as soon as I get the coin home. I then use De-Solve to remove all traces of the glue. Then, I usually try to polish out a few scratches. I routinely send in encapsulated coins for reholder, because I cannot stand scratches interfering with my viewing of the coins.

Only if I'm selling it. I'd rather others not know what I paid.

Sometimes I remove them other times I don't. No set method or reason.

I remove the sticker and then attach them to the invoice for my records.

The only stuff I leave on my slabs are those little green stickers on the front. They're a pain to remove. image

  • Interesting......I also collect ancient artifacts (pre columbian, etc). With artifacts, especially ancient Native American items, it's generally best to LEAVE ON all tags, stickers, and archaeological cataloguing numbers.

The old auction stickers, etc, help to trace the history or provenance of these items. Most arrowheads have writing on them, and this does not detract from the value. I was told to never take these off.

(I do take stickers off my coin slabs though)

I remove them because they junk up the appearance of the slab. There is only one brand of sticker that I allow on my slabs. image

I do the same... Gently pealed off and adhered to auction or dealer receipts.

Remove they look to much like the ones that dork on eBay does.

  • Welcome to the forum.! It's best to remove them, after a while they seem to get harder to peal off. I also don't like it if it ruins the hologram on the back of the slab. I just save the receipts and get rid of the stickers. If you give it back to the dealer at some point I'm sure they would prefer you leave their sticker.

I always remove extraneous stickers, and frequently remove the slab.

The stickers are harder to remove if they're left on for a year or two. Apparently the adhesive becomes, well, more adhesive.

    I remove them. They're distracting.

Gummy stuff on a slab is one of my pet peaves. The faster the stickers are removed, the better.
