Anyone ever make an offer to...

MilkmanDanMilkmanDan Posts: 3,761 ✭✭✭✭✭
Apmex? I normally wouldn't look there for rare coins, just bullion, but they happen to have a somewhat unique coin related item I'm looking for. The thing is, I think that its way overpriced. My questions are:

1. Has anyone ever called them up to negotiate price on a non-bullion coin?
2. Does anyone know if their coins are owned by them, or on consignment.

Thanks,
Dan

And by the way, I'm not afraid to just call them and ask. More looking for any tips from others who may have tried in the past (or am I just wasting my time to call).

I haven't but large place tend not to be flexible enough for that. More than likely the person who takes your call won't have the authority to do much if anything other than take your credit card number.
  • I tried to negotiate with them on a bulk (graded coin) purchase. They had someone from upper levels call me and they politely declined. doesnt hurt to call though you never know
  • I tried on a $2000+ item. No luck.

Yeah, this item is over $2k but probably only worth about $200. I'm not gonna call, but thinking about it made me curious what they'd say.

If they're asking $2K but it's only worth $200 i'd be interested in how you presented the offer and what they're response was.

If they are that far off on their price, you're wasting your time calling them. Time to move on.
