New Member Here & 1980's Wax Box Quiz

Hi Everybody, I've been lurking around these boards for a few years, and thought I'd say hi.

I'm inspired by a few current threads (wax box collectors thread, and the 1977 Topps Group Break).

That led me to do some research, and I'm curious of all the superstars, why Topps chose Bob Jones to be advertised on the 1977 Topps Wax Box.

And, that led me to create this Sporcle quiz on players advertised 1980's Wax Boxes.

Try out the 1980's Baseball Wax Box Quiz that I created.
Note: Some boxes contain multiple players, but please specify the main player, or specify the card that is on the forefront.

Good luck, post your results back!

    Here's the football equivalent quiz:

Players advertised on 1980's Topps Football Wax Boxes.

Despite being mass produced, kudos to anybody who gets 1989 Topps Correct! If you need a hint, read below for the team he played for

Just did the football. Got them all.

I remember 1989 because it is sitting on a shelf near me.

    The last 2 were 1981 and 1982.

I could not remember 81 but I did remember the team. I tried Joe Cribbs but that was wrong.

It made me remember 1982 as I was thinking of Bills. But I never would have guessed it was the same player. That is the only reason I got 1981.

    Great quiz

    Shawn

    EDIT

    Just did baseball

Ugh that was tougher. Only 20. Helped that 1 player was the answer to 3. And another last name covered two boxes because I never would have gotten 1989 Upper Deck.
After those four National League games, Gorman Thomas was never the same, and neither were the Brewers, and come to think of it neither was I.

    I got 23 (97th percentile) on the baseball. That's a fun one!
  • Got 'em all on the baseball--yes even Terry Puhl...but in reality the only reason I got Mike Jackson was because I typed Jackson (thinking Reggie)
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12

    fun quiz!! >>

I got Terry Puhl, but only because I had just opened a box of that a few weeks ago.

    I got 20. Great quiz.

When creating the quiz, I left off 1982 Topps, since I wasn't sure exactly who the player was.
Does anybody want to take a guess: Photo of 1982 Topps Wax Box

I have an idea of who it is, but wasn't 100% confident. Any Indians fans out there that can confirm this?

Thanks for the quizes and welcome to the boards. I only got 11 out of 20 and even missed the HOFer who appears three times! I actually did better on football getting 6. I missed the first one who was on there twice. I never heard of the guy on the 1989 box!

Any thoughts on who's on the 1979 Topps Wax Box?

It looks like Topps had to crop the Giants logo on the jersey.
