Another ebay/paypal question (sorry, but need some help) BAD SELLER WARZENIS27

I am considering buying an item from a zero feedback seller. According to the ebay sceen, it will be covered by ebay's "buyer protection", and I'll pay by paypal so it will also be covered by paypal's usual array of "protection".

What are the different ways I can get "burned", if I bid and win and pay via paypal?? It's an autographed trading card (I'm confident of the authenticity as long as I receive the one pictured)

Thanks for your help,

Mike

  • Buyers are pretty much covered completely. If it shows up as a different card then scanned you file a SNAD claim and return with DC (or signature confirmation if $250 or higher) and you will get your money back no matter the seller's return policy.

I don't see how you can get "burned". The worst that could happen is you win the item at a good price and seller refuses to complete deal. Otherwise as I understand it, you can file a SNAD claim and your purchase price will be refunded.

There might be ways of "burning" you, I just can't think of any.

    Good luck!

eBay's "Buyer Protection Policy" is a joke.

Just make sure you pay via Paypal funded by a credit card so if there is a problem and eBay won't help you then you can invoke your credit card protection.

I recently bought a set shipped in screwdown holders. A number of the cards had damaged surfaces that stuck to the screwdown. The seller told me to pound sand, I opened a dispute, and eBay told me the same.

Another incident I received an item that had a pungent stench. Again, the seller wasn't interested in providing a refund and eBay sided with the seller.

On top of that, I have gotten nastygrams from eBay saying I have opened to many disputes. I probably buy 100 items a month and have opened around 10 disputes in the past year, most for items that were not shipped or received.

With SNAD claims, I am batting 2 for 5.

It's not bad enough they make it difficult as a seller but now even as a buyer I am getting fed up.

My gut was right about the transaction. I bid, won, paid, and I never received my item. Additionally, the seller wouldn't respond to simple messages. I got my money back today through Ebay's Buyer Protection. I left my frist negative today in 14 years on ebay. What a tool.

I've got nothing but praise for ebay's buyer protection in this case. It was fast, decisive, and quick to refund my money.

Those were two odd choices of cards to start with as a new eBayer.

Too bad you didn't get the card, but at least you got your money back!

Just a bump so WARZENIS27 can get a little more free publicity.
