Triple Auto - One of these is not like the others

Just ran across this interesting card on eBay

image

Reminded me of the old Sesame Street song -

One of these things is not like the others,
One of these things just doesn't belong,
Can you tell which thing is not like the others
By the time I finish my song?

Even being a Packer fan, I had to look up Ingle Martin. Career stats include no passes, and 2 rushes for -5 yards.

Anyone else with a "one of these doesn't belong" card?

What the .... ? I'll guess that someone else they had lined up as a signer for that card fell through, and they had to go with Plan B... or C or D.

I betcha Ingle Martin has a copy of that card, though.

I had this same card that took me forever to sell... you can see why.

    eBay Listing

They are all from Texas, but Nolan Ryan is a HOFer, Beckett is a decent pitcher with a craving for fried chicken and beer, and Wood... enough said.
    Collecting Tony Conigliaro

Wow. I don't even remember this guy- and I'm from Wisconsin! I had to Google him and from what I saw, his claim to fame is playing Wally Pipp for Chris Leak at Florida.

The highlight of Ingle's career was signing that card.

I have a gut feeling that Ingle signed first.

Two weeks ago a card featuring Farve, Rodgers, and Matt Flynn could be seen just as outrageous. This week that card would be blowing up eBay. All cards are subject to circumstance I guess.
  • Hornung is the one that doesn't belong. He's not a quarterback. He's not wearing a helmet. His picture is not in color.

Beckett/Ryan/Wood is hardly a bad combination. Made good sense at one time. But Favre/Hornung/Martin? There's never been a day when Ingle Martin belonged on that card. And he'd tell you that himself, I bet.

Funny thing is it's all about perspective. I looked at your card & did not know who you thought was out of place. I figured you were talking about Beckett not belonging. Wood is a Texas High School pitching legend. Hell I took my now wife on a "date" to go see him pitch in the high school playoffs (I am 2-3 years older than him). Heck he even had a huge strikeout game in the pros if i remember right. Beckett on the other hand does nothing for me. I suppose he has been a better pro pitcher but there is no emotional reaction that would make me want to collect a card with him on it!

Honestly I think that's a great triple auto--you got Ryan who was great, Beckett who still may be great (stop laughing) and Wood who is one of the ultimate 'what could've beens'
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12

If he got them last his best would have been to just keep the cards and tell UD they got lost in the mail!
