1986-87 Fleer MJ Auction - Love this!

Jordon RC Auction

I love the marketing strategy and justification for the price tag. It is as if the seller is trying to employ a Jedi mind trick when you read the description. Look at the reverse side of the card...I did not know you could get a those sub grades. I wonder what a "0" for surface would have to be? The fact that the seller has it BIN w/o OBO is amazing...some sucker will buy this...God bless capitalism.

The irony is I looked at the seller's other items and found this 1979-80 Topps The Great One. This card looks better than the MJ and it is got the card show grade that is higher (with little BS in the description to make you want to buy it).

He has quite a few valuable modern cards with absolutely ridiculous prices. My thought is that he is just showcasing his collection.

My favorite is the fancy $100 for $500.

Well there are some suckers out there but no one is paying that much for a BGS 1...that is one ugly card but it does have some personality...

I highly doubt it. If someone really wants one in that condition, they can buy one a lot cheaper and then beat it up.
  • Dear redhotcards,

Will you ever consider listing it where I can make an offer? I can only afford 3 grand, but it does not give me the option to bid less. Please help, I really need this card!

    Thank you!

Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.
  • I so love the sub grade of "0.5." I can't let go of that. BGS lovers always make such a big deal about sub grades. I would have promoted the higher sub grade for centering and wrote something about how if you resubmitted the card to PSA it would grade a 1.5 or 2! Also, if you were the grader, what would you think when this fell into your hands? Is this joke? Is it April Fools? WTF? Meatloaf

Tell him "I said $3,000, not $2999.99!" The check is already made out for $3,000. image

  • Dear redhotcards,

Thanks so much, I am working on getting the money together. Do you have a Mickey Mantle RC in similar condition? I just bought one for $7,500 in a PSA 2, which i thought was little high. I saw a Jordan RC PSA 6 for $500+/-, I was thinking of buying that and trashing it like you did. But, yours is so unique, my ex girlfriends's brother would love it. I have $1,987.98 in paypal right now, I get paid the 15th of the month. Please don't sell it yet.

I think the corners are better than a 1. BGS is being pretty harsh on that subgrade!

Whew, that makes me feel better. God forbid something bad happen to that card in the shipping process! image

I thought that was funny too so I googled fancy serial number and sure enough there is a collecting niche for bills will "fancy" serial numbers on them. In this case the 5 consecutive 1s in the serial number is considered fancy. There are a number of bills on ebay with various fancy serial numbers. I learn something new every day.....
