Year of the Dragon!

I admittedly collect some coins just for the artwork and I'm a sucker for dragons. Looks like I'll be busy this year!

Anyone else going out of their way to collect dragon coins this year?

Not specifically dragons, but I'll be the first to admit that I too collect for the arkwork. No shame there.image

Haha, thanks. I suppose I consider it a guilty pleasure because I started off with buying silver/gold purely as a means of 'wealth storage'. lol

The Canadian Gold and silver are in my hands along with the series one Australia Dragons. Great art work.

If you're referring to the Perth Lunar series, I agree that they look fantastic. Except for the colorized ones, but de gustibus e di coloribus non disputare est. image

As for the means of wealth storage, there's nothing wrong in collecting these Australian gold lunar ounces for instance. They make a terrific 12 gold 1 oz coin set (in silver too, 1oz and 2 oz), with mintages that are infinitely smaller than the Canadian Maple Leafs or the gold Buffalos and Eagles, they keep climbing in value and it is a wonderful set to own. I was given a 2 oz dragon as a gift and that's how I started looking at them to begin with.

Lotus or 'regular' for the Candian silver? I can't decide... I might have to get both. image

P.S. Do you know if the lotus ones be slabbed?

Agreed. After looking at recent prices for 2009 UHR and fractional buffaloes, I have no guilt in buying 'cool coins' image
  • The Pamp Suisse 'lunar' bar is awesome looking!

  • The Perth mint coins are really cool- the dragons look so nice- The regular and the gilded
How can you go wrong with mintages and designs like these?
    This is so fun
