Is this 1927 York Caramel card original?

I am looking at this card on ebay and dont know whether on not it is original. I live in York, PA so it would be neat to own it but i know nothing about this set of cards. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Judging by half his other auctions being modified and stating he modified them... I'd be careful.

I can't attest to authenticity but I noticed he uses stain remover on other cards and has quite a few high ticket items for sale... If you look at their one negative it isn't for a bad card though it was for not shipping a low dollar item, they have received positive feedback for the few higher dollar card transactions they have done.

He seems pretty conceited in his other auctions though....

I'm not a collector of that particular set, but I have had a few in my type set collection. They have all had a light brownish tint to them from contact with the piece of caramel that they were packed with.

Here is a scan of my example:

I'd say the Hornsby card is probably genuine, but like Sean mentioned, I would be about 95% certain that he has used that "stain remover" crap on this card.

There will be other York Caramel cards to be had on eBay - I would stay away from this one.
