I would be in for a few packs if you need to start a pack lot in order to fill up boxes. I just dont have enough interest in the 77's to get a full box.

It would be really fun to rip.

How much would be per pack....if it comes to that?

It would be interesting to see how many packs would sell if there was no limit. I'd be interested in 8 - 12 packs.

$27.78 per pack before shipping. I would get anywhere from 6-10 packs at that rate.

Really we can't split this up a little more into packs instead of boxes? image

I'd be in for some packs (5-10ish) as well, but 1k for a box is a bit steep for me. I'd rather spend it on a slabbed card I've been eyeing.

Think you will see several boxes broke up into packs.

I have wanted a clean box of 1977(born in 1977) for a very long time and I am not even sure I will pull the trigger on a full box. You don't get any cleaner than from a sealed case.

Just not a great time to drop a grand on a box of cards.

    Hey Mike,

Great to see you back. Based on the comments made, I have a suggestion for the group. Perhaps you can still sell one to two complete boxes to those that want it, but also allow people to buy individual packs. Now I know it is a lot of work for Steve and BBCE to ship out a bunch of individual packs to everyone so maybe we could set a minimum limit of 6 or 12 individual packs. I picked intervals of 6 based on 36 packs per box. This way it at least limits the number of shipments to a reasonable number for BBCE. Just a thought.

Of course, I'll take a full box. image

'77 was the first year I ever opened a baseball card pack as a 7 yr old kid,
and I love the set, so I may be up for traveling back in time and opening 6
or 12 of those bad boys.
  • We will make packs available, I agree.

Maybe set 4 boxes aside to sell as packs, we may not sell 16 boxes, so let's see what happens. I also think we put no limit on the pack amounts.

I thought the '77 case was rack also. I just bought a box of '77 OPC so I'm going to ponder buying another wax box right now. I've had more luck lately from rack and cello.
  • I'd be supprised to see 16 people jump on this and pay $1,000 per box. I hope people do buy some so we can pack out the rest - I'd be interested in 6 or so packs.

Not sure yet, I haven't done my typical super-anal research on this set yet. Still not sure what the big deal is about the Mark Fidrych RC yet. Always see this card going for decent money. I'm sure others can chime in about it.
  • Munson 9 is Pop 37 with only one 10 out there.

it is a VERY tough card as the card stock is mush with PD galore.

I would love a box but after recently purchasing a box of 75 mini wax, my wife would have the divorce lawyer on speed dial. Definitely would like to get a few packs though.

Question - why break up a relatively rare Factory-sealed wax case in order to obtain packs that are readily available at comparable prices?

condition of cards in packs that have come from sealed cases TEND to be in better shape then packs that have been moved/handled multiple times

    Two guesses.

One: So people get packs that definitely haven't been searched, as they come from a sealed case.

Two: They really aren't that rare.

Hey Nikklos, good question. There are a couple of reasons why you would want one of these boxes or packs from these boxes. Since they are from a sealed case, you know that the boxes haven't been picked through and backfilled if it was determined that the cards in the few packs opened would not yield high quality cards. You also have collectors who know the sequencing and picked out the packs with the big hits. For these reasons, I'm willing to pay a little more to know the packs haven't been picked through so to speak.

Packs are readily available, but it's very tough to acquire a truly case fresh box that you know hasn't seen the light of day or been checked for stars showing through the wrappers, etc. It also allows collectors who would never be able to afford a 17K case an opportunity to purchase one of these case fresh boxes.
