    Yeah, he "pitched to the score", that's how John Lackey ended up with a 12-12 record with an obscene 6.41 ERA.

    Hell, if he had an "average" ERA (say 4.50) his record would have been 21-3, and the Red Sox would have won 99 games.

    And he completed his great season by dumping his wife who was being treated for cancer. Way to go Lackey!!! I'm sure companies are just lining up to have you as a spokesperson. Maybe gasoline cans...

    That's a tricky subject. Obviously his wife being ill is a horrible thing and worthy of sympathy. That said, what if the two simply didn't get along before the diagnosis and it's only gotten worse? Is he supposed to be doomed for life to a marriage where the two of them can't stand each other simply because she's sick? Definitely a gray area with many fine lines.
