My 1957 Topps set: the beauty of well-loved cardboard (1-205 scanned - updated 12/21/16)

1957 Topps set, it's been too long. For several years now you've been kept in a dark box, unappreciated and unloved. You're the oldest set I've completed, and remain far and away my favorite post-war vintage set. It's high time I reacquainted myself with you... and share you with my friends.
I'll be adding to this thread little by little as the mood strikes. I'll be posting them in numerical order. Thanks for letting me share.

"Molon Labe"
My father's boyhood collection consisted of '57s and '58s. Can't wait to see more pics that will bring back memories of digging through his cards. I know he had the Temple and Drysdale...

Honestly, Im not sure if that was sarcasm.
Any 57 in any condition is beautiful either way
I love beat up old cardboard. Staple holes, tack holes, round corners, paper loss (if it's not too extreme), tape, writing, creased, bent, wrinkled. You name it, it doesn't bother me... except for one thing. I cannot stand extreme OC, so Al Worthington (and your dog Spot), at some point you're getting replaced.

cool cards dude.
It is a beautiful set in any condition. Loved is better.
love, love, love the Elmer Valo card. I wish this shot could have been done with Carl Furillo, Duke Snider or Gil Hodges - such a cool pose.

Yep. He'll be in the next batch I scan. My '57 set is complete, with the exception of two of the contest cards, the Lucky Penny, and a few of the tough 3/4 & 4/5 checklists.

You could send in the Bob Boyd to PSA just to have one graded(could be a 7!)
While I enjoy seeing the high-end stuff some here collect and share, I am partial to projects like this that aren't motivated by investment or registry bragging rights, but the love of the hobby.
One of the things I really like about this hobby and community is that it caters to a wide variety of interests, budgets, and collecting styles.

I'm with snorto.
And Geordie, I'm glad you didn't lose this set in the fire! It obviously means alot to you and that's what makes it cool.
I should start a thread like this someday for my less valuable, more loved/worn Yaz items that I've had since childhood. I tend to just show off the graded and autographs that are newcomers to my collection.
