Are unopened packs from all Topps baseball issues somewhat available?
If one was interested in putting together a collection of unopened packs from Topps run of their base yearly baseball sets are there any years that are basically non existent? Not concerned about a certain variety such as penny/nickel/cello/certain series etc. Just one basic wax pack from 52 on up.
What would be about the cheapest you could put it together paying market price?

Total for the run would be about 25,000.00-30,000.00
Handyman, if you have a Topps run of nickel packs for $30k I'm a buyer. I strongly suspect it would cost you at least twice that, and take years to put together. It took me 6 years and I didn't miss too many opportunities. And I had quite a bit of luck.
Legit '56 and '58 packs should run about $8-10k each, '52 about $6-8k. '53, '54 a few thousand each, '55, '57 and '59 about $1500 to $2k. We're at $40k and haven't touched the '60's yet, nor '51 Topps.
So $55-$60k, assuming just a basic pack from each year, legit, in decent shape with strong eye appeal. But you're going to be hung up on '56 and '58, '52 and '59 aren't going to be easy, and '53 and '54 are could take a while. If you're picky about water stains '55 is going to be tough too.
This is a much harder run to put together than just all the cards from those years, although it won't cost as much.

There was one in the mr mint pack auction from a few years ago (which had a lot of rare packs). Even rare football packs or basketball seem to show up more than 56.
About 2 and a half years ago, I started a project to get a Topps wax pack from every year since 1977, the year I was born. An easy enough task you would think, but I still havent completed it.

After finding out the price range I'm going to have to sit this one out.

There have been finds of '52 Topps, '54 Topps Canadians (5 boxes surfaced a few years ago), '55 Topps and Bowman (Mr. Mints Paris, TN find), '64 Topps Standups, etc.
To the best of my knowledge there has never been a find of '56 or '58 Topps packs, hence the insane values on those. As TheCardKid pointed out there has not been an offering of a '56 nickel pack publically since '97, other than the one in the E & R auction. I was told by a prominent pack dealer a few years ago that he had 4 guys that needed a '56 nickel and would pay whatever it took. He thought that no more than 3-5 packs existed. A find of a box would certainly satiate the market and drop prices considerably, but as of yet it hasn't happened.
Almost the same deal with '58 nickel. They are super tough, and while more exist than '56 (one sold as a BIN recently on ebay) there is at least one in a GAI holder that is bogus.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
I'd like to hear similar comments regarding cellos --
Thanks for the great info.
