Hmm, something bothers me about this 1816 halfcrown

Almost won this one just now. I had emailed him prior and he quoted me a shipping cost. May have won it had the auction been set up to accept bidders from Canada.

Still, I wasn't going to bid moon money for this one. It looks unc, but something just looks off to me. Over-dipped, maybe even whizzed? It almost looks like a modern cheap silver round, frosty, but no lustre. Checked in on a bunch of the seller's previous auctions, many cleaned/dead looking coins. This piece looked much, much better, but still off. Would like to hear some more opinions, as I am sure this seller will list more coins of the type I am looking for. Thanks.

All dipped and cleaned. Horrible. As I didn't find an originally toned piece in the 10 or 15 I looked at, it is reasonable to assume that is the norm. Worth avoiding.
