Item says delivered but I was home and it wasn't delivered to me?

Hi guys,

I am showing that an item was delivered the day before Christmas. I was home that day and personally took the mail from the carrier since I was out in the garage working. Do I have any recourse or am I just out the cards and money?

Thanks to all

Jeff

That sucks but it's happened to me once before. Head over to the PO and speak with a teller. Hope it works out for you.
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

Yep, we had a few presents that had that happen. Talked to the PO and they showed up a day later.

I've had that happen before. The last time, I went to the post office and they figured out that it was delivered to the wrong address and sent someone out to retrieve it and personally deliver it to me.

My wife ordered something for my son which was to be delivered just a few days before Christmas. We had the tracking number and it actually showed as "delivered" on the day it was supposed to arrive but we never received it. My wife made numerous phone calls and got no help and UPS only said they were showing it was delivered and that there wasnt much they could do. We live on Washington Street and two streets over is Wisconsin Street. She walked over to Wisconsin Street and found the people that live in the house with the same street number as ours and knocked on their door on a hunch the package was mis-delivered. The people answered the door and sure enough, they said a package had been delivered there but they didnt order anything. Instead of calling UPS or looking at the name and address on the package they kept it, assuming it was theirs to keep.

Needless to say we got our item and thankfully the contents of the package was not opened. We called UPS to complain and got nothing more than an "sorry" for the confusion. I dont know what I expected to receive from UPS but a "sorry" just doesnt feel like enough to me.
I am on a budget and I am not afraid to use it!!

  • Happened with my ps3 a couple years ago. Had to send it in to get fixed and received the tracking number. Looked it up on the day it was to be delivered and it showed delivered. Lucky thing for me it had to be signed for and it was signed for by a Dr. Last time I checked I wasn't a doctor so I called ups and it showed up later that night.

If you know the zip of the address it was mailed to, find that local PO and call immediately. I did not do this when a package was mis-delivered (and probably mis addressed since the jackass hand wrote the label). There wasn't even a street address close to mine in the other zip, but PP sided with the seller because the item was delivered somewhere close to my zip (for real). Jump on it now because there is a good chance you could be SOL unless sig confirmation was required. Even it was the PO who screwed up, PP will side with the seller.

    Good luck.

Happened to me a few years back, also. That eBay seller basically called me a liar when I let him know that I did not have package because (like many of the sellers who post on this board) postal confirmation said it was delivered, so anyone claiming non-receipt when confirmation says otherwise is a scammer.

I called and also visited my local post office to see if they could help find out where the package might be--they told me they could do nothing--that they really don't know anything more than what the online tracking information says.

Luckily, about 2 months later, the package mysteriously shows up in my mailbox. No markings or stickers indicating it had been misdelivered or rerouted from somewhere else. Has never happened again, and I have continued buying steadily for years--of course that one seller never saw another dollar from me again.

Good luck--hope your package also appears--hopefully less than 2 months from now.

Thanks guys...happy ending. It showed up in my mail today. Am thinking it must have got delivered to wrong address and someone left out for mailman to pick up. Was two cards for $100 so didn't want to lose.

They do that to me all the time. I live on a .6 acre on a hill they have to walk up. If its a big package she puts it on my trash can. If its sign confirmation. I have to go to the post office the next day and ask for it. Once it was a 600.00 item and they left no note. 1 week after it was suposed to be hear the seller told me it was at the post office. Most likely they were busy before there holiday so she just flew by.
