Fee increase effective 1/1/12 for red flip autographed card submissions

I know a lot of my friends on here like to submit their autographed cards on PSA's red flip autographed card submissions. Most of you probably already know, but in case you don't, the fee for red flipped autographed cards under $500 declared value is going up to $25 per card effective 1/1/12. You still have a few more days to take advantage of the $20 per card rate so if you've been procrastinating, you might want to send your cards in this week.

I'll probably be running some bulk subs (perhaps 2 this coming year), but your cost will probably be $15 per card all inclusive with a minimum of 10 cards, rather than the $10 per card plus shipping that I was able to offer in the past. When I do one, you'll know it as I'll post it on the main board.

Hope everyone has a fun and safe New Years celebration,

Mike

That really sucks. They really should keep the $10 pricing for inexpensive autograph cards - say under $50 which encompasses 50 yo 75% of the autographed cards that I submit. Now, 100 autographed cards will cost $1500 instead of $1000 - that's one hell of a price hike. F- for PSA.

But Greg the online SMR pricing will be free soon, that doesn't make up for it?

  • I think they will hurt themselves with this one... it will no longer be worth subbing that minor star card or set filler for $25 regular or $15 on a special. I for one know I will spend a lot less on subbing auto'ed cards - this year alone I probably subbed closed to 50.

They might still offer their "special" at some point. It's only pure guesswork on my part that the days of the $10 red flipped autographed card special are over. I have no official confirmation, just guessing based on the regular price going up

Let me know if you get together a bulk submission at a good price, I have plenty of cards that need slabbing. Maybe you can get one last one done at the $10 price image

What do the other companies in the industry charge? Is the $25/card rate industry standard? That seems really steep for an opinion that's not guaranteed...

BGS/JSA standard is $20 per authentication plus $10 for card grade for values up to $150. So $30 total up to $150 and PSA is $25 up to $500.

Don't know about SGC/JSA but Spence is generally a lot more stringent on what gets done at the standard fee and a lot of times charges more for better players that PSA would just do at the standard cost
