Seller Goofed...Be on the Lookout

He didn't word this very well as I did not win a #350 Mickey Mantle,but I think it is a 1960 Mick he mis shipped . I did not receive it and would of immediately contacted him if I did(despite the temptation). This is what he sent me this morning;

" I hope all is well at these festive times of year I am contacting you in regards to the possibility that you may have recieved another topps #350 mickey mantle psa 7 card along with the original auction you won. My self and the other customer are a bit worried as they have paid and are patiently waiting on its arrival. Please let me know it was accidentily shipped to you as I would like it returned, thanks and sorry for the confusion."

I sure hope it shows up or a very bummed out Christmas it will be for both parties involved.

  • Interesting situation and very tempting but an easy decision to make if it was indeed mailed to you!

youd think the seller would pull out that blue and white insurance receipt that the postal clerk handed him and actually look at the address he sent that card to???

these mistakes happen and if you get it you should send it to the winner after the seller PayPals you a finders "save his A$$" fee plus some shipping $$ too. image

its like when you find a wallet and call and give it back to the guy that lost it, he should pull out a $20+ bill and give it to you....
but then again some guys just check the address on the DL and send back the wallet w/o the cash and call it a day

the seller should be taught a small lesson.... IMO

PS one thing that does cross my mind... why post about this before the facts are all in... are you trying to make an alibi to show you dont have the card when you actually already do??
just a though that crossed my mind.... youd think the winner (potential loser) of the #350 card would write this post ??? just saying.... image

ohh this should be fun...I wont waste my time but Ill read others comments
  • I'll be joining Steve on the sidelines for this one. I'm sure he is already there.
  • As tempting as it is, you should just send it back if you did already receive it. Its not about teaching the guy a lesson. Thats kind of a mean thing to say actually. Its about doing whats right and besides, its Christmas. You should be satisfied with he card you actually bought in itself. Show this seller that there are good people still out there and not everyone is a thief. It was an honest mistake if he sent you both which it sounds like he did.

I had the same thing happen to me once.

Bought a cheap card (< $10) from a seller on eBay and he accidentally sent me a graded Reggie Jackson RC. Oops!! It wasn't hard to do the right thing. I mailed it back on my dime, the seller
    was EXTREMEMLY happy and relieved.

People make mistakes. Obviously some of them are honest mistakes. If the card comes to you, I recommend sending it back with a note that says, "Merry Christmas, you are one lucky bug!"

Keeping it for yourself is also an option, but I warn you, karma can be a real bee-yatch!
    Happy Holidays

    There is no decision here.

If you got a card mailed to you that was done by mistake as soon as you get it mail it back.

Rereading the OPs post, let me see if I understand this correctly. Seller is pretty sure he shipped you the wrong card and is checking if you got it or not. Sounds like you already received the package in question correct? Why is it your first couple sentences read like an admission of guilt?

Don't derail this thread and make it out to be something it's not. The OP clearly states that he "did not receive it and would of immediately contacted him if I did", which I understand it to be that he has not received the package yet. I believe the OP is just stating that this is the situation, not looking for any advice of whether he should keep the card or not, just sharing the story with the board. I would venture to guess that nearly every board member would return the card without question. Always consider if the shoe was on the other foot...

If you had received it, you could always hold it hostage like a certain board member here did a couple of years ago...

But from what I'm reading, it sounds like the seller is reaching out to the person that won a 1960 #350 Mantle where he may have accidentally shipped a PSA 7 instead of the "other" Mantle (or included it by accident). It sounds like the OP is stating that he's not the one that won either of the Mantle cards.
  • The way I read it, the OP is stating that he has received the card that HE won from the seller, but the '60 Mick in question was not in the package he received.

I could be wrong, but that is what I got out of it.

I do NOT have the card never had the card nor do I want the card. The seller apparently shipped the Mantle accidentally in with another order. Just wanted to let people know about this Mantle possibly floating around. I fail to see how the shipper could possibly make that big of mistake.

Not derailing this thread at all. I don't understand the point of the post then or saying there is any temptation involved in keeping the card then if this was mailed to him in error. You send the card back no questions asked because it is not your card. I have received something in error before and sent it back paying the shipping out of pocket and was never reimbursed by the seller.

Sellers make mistakes, I guess then I don't see the point in starting this thread to state the obvious.

if its a high volume seller it wouldnt be hard to misship a card and not know who might have gotten it so you send an email to everyone who you sold to over the course of a week or so and see if anyone got it.
