PWE!!!!!!!!!!

I cannot believe that people still ship cards in PWE. I have received from four different sellers cards in a plain white envelope this week. Luckily, they have all arrived safely. I just had to rant a little.

if it arrives as described and it's tied to a pigeon, i'd be content.

i might need a paper towel.
  • Would using homing pigeons be cheaper than the USPS?

I havent had many this year but this month and the last were way more than normal. Might have been bc they were raw cards and not graded but I did get about 7 PWE these last 2 months. Every time I only paid less than 2.00 for sh though and not 3.50 or something
    were yours raw as well?

    It still happens on occasion.

I ship all raw cards under 10 bucks in a PWE. I started doing this over he summer. I Charge 1.50. I switched because I got too many complaints about charging 2.50 in a bubble mailer. I have had 1 complaint about a PWE in over 200 transactions. When I asked the guy if he would rather pay 2.50 if I had shipped in a bubble mailer, he said no. That sums it up for me

So do I. Everything under $10 ships in a PWE. I've had 1 complaint in 2011 out of somewhere around 1700 transactions.

    +1

If you as the seller want to assume a little extra risk to save some money, go for it. As long as you're wiiling to accept returns if the 'gamble' doesn't pay off, it doesn't make a bit of difference to me.

I like when they tape the case to the inside of the envelope. It's always fun to spend 18 minutes getting a $2 card out of the package.

    +!
I still think most people use tape way to much! More and more packages are harder to open than a BGS case it seems. I stay away from the tape.

I'd rather have a buyer deal with my tape and an undamaged item then deal with a return any day of the week. However, I've been selling shoes and not cards.
  • If packaged properly PWE is just as good or better than a card floating around loose in a bubble mailer. IMHO

I've been wondering the same thing, I'm starting to believe sending one card, top loaded, in a PWE is just as good or better than a bubble mailer....
  • Toro, I put two thin pieces of card board as well.

A card shipped in a PWE may arrive safely but there is no comparison to shipping a card in between two pieces of cardboard, wrapped in bubble wrap inside a bubble wrapped envelope.

I think having superb shipping is an excellent business practice and can only help your results.

I would rather pay more for safe shipping and it arrive as expected then pay less and risk any damage.

  • I'm glad we all don't run to CU for a rant everytime we recieve mail in a PWE. The first five pages would be sewn up.

It is better, because they don't go through the sorter. I've probably put 1500 cards through the mail this year in PWEs and CS1's, and I've had exactly one envelope damaged- and that was a letter that was bound for Canada.

So when you guys ship with PWE, I am guessing that you don't use tracking? With my luck they would tell me they never received the card.

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

  • I would take the PWE (If packaged properly) with lower shipping almost every time.
I don't even bother with tracking on less expensive cards. Its just added shipping cost.
If someone wants to go through the trouble of ripping me off for the card, so be it.
    Never had a problem yet.

I need to block that goof ball whinning about high shipping. THAT's the kind of buyer I don't want to deal with.

With all the dings I have been getting with $2.50 for bubble envelope, the PWE thing looks like a better option for lower cost raw cards.

It's clear that the ebay buyers do not appreciate good packaging for cards. Or they don't want to pay for it.

For under $5 cards I send in a PWE but with cardboard. I think that's safe enough. It's an under $5 card for gosh sakes!

For the OP... it arrived fine so why complain!?

I know a guy who knows a guy who once had his card bent in a PWE. He contacted the seller and was immediately refunded. It was the most horrifying 15 minutes of his life.

Yes and no. I buy a lot of raw commons while building my sets, and it's really sort of difficult as a buyer to shell out $3 to ship a $.99 win, no matter how you rationalize the total cost. I may appreciate getting something in a bubble wrap, but it's not always possible to cost justify it. Once of my best sources for high grade commons over the years (who posts infrequently here) has sent me every single card I've bought from him in a PWE, and many of those now reside in 9 holders.
