Retail websites and Paypal

So, Ive been considering building a retail website but have been very much against using PP. I was just going to use a credit card clearinghouse. The reason is that I dont want to deal with buyer scams and be left without money and the item. But, I had read somewhere it is difficult to make a claim if its not ebay? Does anyone know anything about this?

As far as I know, most of the eBay protection is gone when using PayPal via other merchant sites. I've used it for several of mine and never had an issue, but I've never had an issue with eBay, either (knock on wood).

I had a Paypal purchase go south and they wouldn't do anything, literally telling me I should stick to Ebay only when buying online lol, since then I was under the impression it changed and anything non 'gift' is covered.
  • PP still has buyer protection if it is an off eBay transaction.

Example; I bought something off a board member here using PP, they shipped with DC but it never arrived. They did not want to refund so I had to file a claim with PP. Since the DC# did not show delivered I was given my refund.

So yes, buyers do have PP protection for non-eBay transaction now, but I have no idea how far they lean towards the buyer like they do an eBay transaction.
