oh no, my interest was strong, and of course i hoped to see the bidding hover below that level in the auction.

stunned at the hammer price, though.

now, i just kick myself in the pants and say "Well dang, why din't i just buy the damn thing and flip it?????" image

If hindsight were 20/20, we'd all be rich! Mark it up to another one that slipped off the hook.

    Probably a PSA 6, a $600 card
Not a great bargain, even at the original price if you ask me.

Agreed. Buyer was probably someone with limited knowledge and deep pockets buying a last minute Christmas gift. Patience grasshopper.

That would probably be a best case scenario, I could see EOT, especially the way PSA looks at Mantles and other major stars.

A 7 day return policy would be tough to comply with trying to get a trip to PSA and back in time.

That card was sold by a former CU member whom I think was banned but I forget his user id

I'd be afraid to but a card like that raw on eBay these days.

i had no fear of buying the card, it looks pretty nice, assuming there has never been any tampering....presents very well, so the attraction was already in place.

as for price, i found myself wanting to get in at around a PSA 6 price, perhaps a little lower, to give me some wiggle room if i decided i didn't like the card after all.

what i found most interesting was that not one, but FOUR different people were willing to go beyond the original asking price.

did they just miss it the first time around? did they not feel compelled to at least do some research about any prior activity on the card? or maybe it WAS a cluster-fizzunk of people trying to win a gift?

or should i just quit analyzing and go back losing $20 auctions? image

I was hoping this was Talking Heads reference !
  • You can't win them all but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try. There will be another opportunity around the corner.

Several 57 Micks were diamond cut.Really can not tell if this one was.Mine was a nice one also and was rejected by PSA as not fitting holder!!!!I only paid about $80 back in the early 80s.
