Price question: 1939 & 1940 Team signed balls

Where would I be able to find information on a 1939 team signed cubs ball, and a 1940 team signed cubs ball.

Also is there any blatant thing to look out for in likely forged pieces?

I'm not sure of the signatures on them, so a high and low for a "multi" signed piece from each of those years.

Thanks,

Sean

From the research I did I believe it is pretty reliant on who from the team signed the ball, since there are quite a few expensive signatures... Please correct me if I am wrong on this

  • It all depends on who did sign the ball. A team signed ball, isn't always signed by the whole team. With out this information, value can not be determined. If it's missing 1 star, value drops.

I have a 1961 Cincinnati Reds Team Signed Ball. My Grandfather purchased it from the stadium, I do believe it is a Souvineer Ball (Fascmile Signitures) Value? Priceless. I received it from him exactly 1 week before he died of Leukaemia.

The bottom line is, the item is only worth what someone is willing to pay.

    Sean,

Here are two auction results on a 1939 ball:

    2009 Legendary Auctions

That ball had 23 signatures and sold for $563 in November 2009, well below the $1000-$2000 estimate

    2010 Heritage Auctions

Heritage did not specify how many signatures there were, they only listed the keys. I don't have a Heritage account, so I can't see what it sold for, but someone who does have an account can tell you what it sold for.

Unless the 1940 team had someone the 1939 team did not that is a scarce signature, they are probably worth close to the same.
