1968 Nolan Ryan, PSA 7 (MC)

I'm thinking about sending this card to Beckett for grading. What grade do you think it would get?

I don't see how it would do any better than a 7 MC.

  • Beckett doesn't use qualifiers, so maybe BVG 5 or BVG 5.5?

Based on experience years ago it would be a 4. I once crossed a PSA 9OC...came back a 4. Their math won't allow anything better than that for a card that is MC I believe.

  • Thanks, but since I don't use this message board very often, I have no idea what the "OTW list" is.

leave the card in a psa holder. you will be glad that you did.
  • Thanks for the responses. When I sent the card to PSA a few years ago, I requested "no qualifiers", but they gave it an MC qualifier anyway. If I sent the card back to PSA again, would they consider giving it a lower grade, without the qualifier?

No mean intent, but as much as you want to get rid of the MC, miscut it is. Just leave it in the PSA holder.

They might, but the problem is you have to go all the way down to a VG 3 before the front centering is allowed to be as bad as 90/10. Now, assuming that card could pass the 90/10 cutoff, would you rather have a card that otherwise shows it's a 7, or have a card in a 3 holder that means it could have all sorts of more serious issues?

  • Thanks, seems like the majority opinion is to leave the card in its current holder.
