Tough 1990s Jeter inserts and parallels

Question for anyone with experience in collecting the tougher 1990s inserts of Derek Jeter (tough being defined as ones Beckett values in the $40+ range).

How accurate do you find Beckett listed prices vs. realized Ebay ending prices? Sometimes I can get a $50 insert for $10 then watch a $50 insert go for over book.

Just curious your experiences. Thanks.

  • You'll find the toughest insert sets to realize the higher prices. Parallel sets numbered at #/100 or less typically have multpliers in Beckett than don't really correspond actual prices paid for players like Jeter. As far as insert sets, obviously the manufacturer odds to attain one insert from that set have a big impact. I would rather spend $50 for the Jeter insert than spend x amount on boxes on a 1:96 chance to get one from that insert set.
  • for any mega-star's really tough 90s GOOD inserts, you can throw "beckett' out the window.

Are you looking to sell? If so, there's another message board that has a very active group of 1990s insert collectors. Some of these cards go for hundreds of dollars, no matter what Beckett says.

Jeter cards (refractors, inserts, etc...) just had a spike in the Beckett guides not that long ago. From my experience those prices are fairly accurate. As mentioned, anything serial numbered or uber limited typically will go for more.
