So who will have some Christmas money to buy some MPL's ?

I was just cruising sites and found these MPL's up for sale and this list does not even have Teletrade, Ebay or Heritage listings of Matte Proof Cents which are more plentiful and more affordable than in years past so go ahead and wish for Santa to bring one of these, or if you get some holiday cash, you you want to start window shopping now. The possibility (if your loaded) to actually starting from scratch and buy a full set of MPL's at one time was something not often seen in the past. BTW, I have no interest in any of the coins or dealers so if you know of other coins list them so maybe someone can get a coin they need.

I just checked out Brian's site (www.bwrarecoins.com), didn't open up. Has the economy impacted him?

Doing fine, going to a more part time mode and not enough inventory to justify a website , Eagle Eye handles my online sales now, I still work wantlists for customers and attend all the major shows/auctions.

Seems like some bargain prices compared to a couple of years ago. The price of that 1909 in PR66RD CAC seemed really low and just barely above what my PR65RB cost me a couple of years ago... then I looked at it and saw why... I've seen that one in hand before in auction lot viewing and it just looks very weird with that very odd reverse toning... can't believe CAC thinks that deserves a sticker.

One of the reasons why I believe CAC and Copper do not mix.

I don't have a problem with CAC and copper. I think that coin is turning after slabbing and sticker and it is reflected in the price. That price is beyond a steal for that coin in that technical condition. If the price is too good to be true, there is usually a reason. Let's face it, there are many savvy collectors on these forums that would flip that coin in a second for a profit if it were the real deal. JMHO.....

I agree!!! I personally give about 10 to 12 collectors and dealers credit for running the prices up. I had never paid more than a 1000 bucks for one until i found this place.

Several of the things you mention are true, but I do seem to remember seeing that coin a long time ago looking exactly as it does in that photo... certainly before CAC.

CAC has been a real boon to numismatics, and in some areas, like gold, CAC is becoming mandatory for higher end purchases. It's just that with copper, they do seem to be very inconsistent.
