Finally Got The Mick

image

Great eye appeal in hand. Been wanting this FOREVER.

Some others to share...

Thought the year was over when I caught the other of my two whales (below), but when this Mick popped up I had to go for it. Now will need to sell some stuff to help offset the outlay.

    Thanks!

I tell myself they're for my son. I find it's a good rationalization technique. Works every time.

Had no expectation of getting the '52, but when I finally saw a decently centered 3 with no paper loss-- that most importantly was within VCP avg, I had to go for it.
  • that may be the "best" place for a crease on that card.

Now, do you have the stones to have it reviewed for the half point bump? image

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
  • I am so envious! That is a beautiful 52 Mantle. I hope when I am finally ready to step up to that card, I can find one as nice.

Actually driving it down to PSA on Friday to see if it will merit a bump-- just for the fun, no intention of resale. I've viewed another 3.5 and this looks way better. The crease is just so subtle/really doesnt detract from the overall appeal. Thanks for the fun of sharing with fellow enthusiasts; none of my buddies or family really know what it is and share my passion for it. Though my wife likely would if she knew what it cost.

  • Great looking 3. Good luck on the bump attempt.
  • Great card. I already purchased a Ruth 1933 Goudey earlier this year for almost $7000 and Im pretty sure Ill never make a purchase like that again so looking at yours is the closest Ill get to having one.

Congrats. Be careful about telling your "friends" about it. That is straight up cash right there. You should look into a safety deposit box. If youre a home owner and your mortgage is with BOA, Im pretty sure they give you a small one for free. Look into that.

Agreed. They all get stashed in one of three bank boxes I have at my bank's main branch. I usually take a look at them in person once a month. Scans suffice, especially for the piece of mind knowing they are so safe.
