Anyone purchase the Garfield spouse coin?
Hello, this is my 1st post here. I am new to the coin grading biz, but the reason that I've come over here is that I received my Garfield spouse coin on Wed, and was please to find something interesting. All of the lettering on the lower half of the reverse was doubled. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this with the coin. I sent off to PCGS to get graded so I am anxiously awaiting the return. I tried to take a pic of it but was unable to capture the DDR clearly, so I will wait for the grade. Just wanted to throw this out there and to see how common this is.

I suppose that it could be shelf-doubling, but do keep us informed.
I knew it would happen.
Harrison, Taylor, Lincoln, Garfield, McKinley, Harding, Roosevelt, and Kennedy. I cannot decide whether or not to include the Nixon FS and consider it a political death in office.
...As for the Garfield, I haven't ordered one yet as I'm essentially doubling down on the 25th ase sets. There will be plenty of time to buy the Garfield, but if I missed the first major error/variation in the spouse series I'm going to hate myself for not ordering immediately :.
PCGS via the Mint Error tier.
If you did, fine, but if you didn't, the coin
will not be viewed for a possible doubled die;
also, as mentioned above, the odds are
99.9% that the doubling you see is common
'ejection' or 'mechanical' doubling, and not
a doubled die.
(this being said, obviously, without seeing
any detailed close-up scans of the doubling
you view with a glass)
If it's mechanical doubling, it will get
no special designation at all.
It will be graded, as normal coin.

I didn't know Garfield had a spouse.
There's Odie the dog, and Jon, his owner...
No, I haven't bought any First Spouse coins. They're kind of interesting, though, for moderns.
Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.

Take a good look at the Jackson proof coin in hand and I bet you'll at least consider adding a modern to your collection
