Opinions wanted on PSA-ing a Player Collection you have in another TPG Slab

Sorry for the wacky Thread Title. lol

Back when i didnt know any better (2006) i sent my Yaz Collection (that i had from childhood. Yaz was my favorite non-Met as a child, and my dad would get me his cards every now and again) to BGS. I don't know if i want to bring myself to go about getting them all over again in psa slabs. Also not sure if i should have them "crossed over" to PSA Slabs.

I'd love to hear what you guys think when it comes to this type of situation

I'm sure he would, but you have to look REAL carefully at those before crossing them. I recently went back and looked at a handful of BGS/BVG cards I bought 7-8 years ago, and practically every one that had a '7' for the surface actually has a dent, bubble or a less than 1/8" wrinkle on an edge. Yeah, those are gonna cross...image

You will most likely take some hits. Are these high grade cards? Figure how much it will be to replace anything PSA rejects. If you don't want to replace them because they are childhood possessions, you might be able to get them slabbed "authentic".

There will be some costs involved, but if this is something you will NEVER sell, why not leave them as is? They are well protected.

Good luck if you send them to PSA!

  • No, not high-grade stuff. if anything, i think i would just pick up better grades in PSA Slabs.

If picking up better grades is the main reason then leave them in the current holders as grades that low means cards with issues.
Even on a straight crossover the value is so low it's not worth investing more money into new plastic.
If you want better grades then take the money and buy better cards instead.

Do you love the PSA slab so much that you're willing to pay $5+ each to have these cards re-slabbed?

That seems like throwing money away, to me.

I doubt if you are going to get better grades crossing these cards over BUT, except for the rookie, your scans are much to small for anyone to give you opinions, The rookie has good eye appeal but the grade seems fair, card has wear on all 4 corners, nicely centered, looks like a 5.

I do like the idea of having them all in the same holder though, the cards would present much better as a set. Sounds like these cards have quite the sentimental value. Send them in for regrading or reholdering. In the long run, you will forget about the money spent and enjoy the cards in their new homes.
