Which Mantle do you like better?

I don't think they're that far off, condition wise. I love the 7, wouldn't look out of place in an 8 holder IMO.

Ron, both are beautiful cards. I think I like the 8 better. Not because it is the one in the 8 holder but because the top border of the 7 just sticks out to me.

    Tilt on 7 bothers me....Go with 8
  • The tilt and the T/B centering hurt the 7 for me...and I'm sure that they kept it out of an 8 holder when taken together....it is a nice card, however.

I need one of those for my '57s. image

I'd take the 8. That 7 has that slight diamond cut.

If you decide to go with the 7 then please PM me because I'd be interested in the 8.

Oh the 8 is from my personal collection. Interesting to have side by side a card that is standard for the grade - the 8 - & one that's high end for the grade, the 7.

I like the 8 better too, but looking at them in person it's closer than you'd think. The one thing about them both is they have snow white borders & tremendous registration. So many 57 Mantles look washed out, but not these two.

The seven seems to have better registration. Might be a better value for the money.
  • If not for the tilt, I'd take the 7 all day long over the 8.

8 rather than 7 due to top to bottom centering.

The 7 has a much better picture however overall you would have to go with the 8.

It's not that bad and I've definitely seen worst, but I'm kinda picky when it comes to tilts.
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts
