what's the safest way to ship to Canada in terms of seller protection (ebay transaction)?

The price point is more or less the same:

a) USPS Priority Mail + certificate of mailing

b) USPS First Class + Registered service

c) either one is fine

d) none of the above

The buyer has over 100 feedback so I feel little risk, but still want to cover my bases.

I have shipped several items to Canada.

I would just use standard international first class mail. I realize there are thieves out there but 99.9% are not.

In my experience, there are actually less theives with international transactions than there are in the US, which doesn't make sense because it is easier to claim an "item not received" case because most international transactions are done without tracking information.

If the item is cheap ($30 or less), USPS first class international is fine because, like DPeck said, 99.9% of the people are not going to try to scam you. If the item is more expensive, I wouldn't do it without tracking.

  • I just shipped 2 separate items to Canada to 2 different sellers.
I used Registered mail and it has tracking that shows every step of the way.

One item was $93 and the other was $148.
Both items showed delivered looking up online with no problems.

Cost was between $13 and some change, and $14.25 for the other.
One was shipped in a small box with gum tape, and the other was shipped in a bubble
mailer with gum tape (brown paper tape) over the lip of the bubble mailer.

I think it really depends on the value of the card to decide what method. I've used international first class
for cheaper items with no problems. Only had 1 person said they never received in 4 yrs.

Yes, as long as you do not check the "waive signature" box on the form.
