vending box question..

Usually collect more vintage stuff but am going to look at some sealed 1979 Topps baseball 500 count vending boxes off a guy I have dealt with over the last couple years & has been 100% legitimate to date on his items.
Any opinions on a fair market value range ( to make an offer ) by anyone who knows this set would be sincerely appreciated as always. I did see a couple sold on eBay for $150 but was not sure if that is in the high or low range. Will probably purchase some to hold for the kids for the long term.
Thanks for reading,
BEJ....

$150 is about market value for a 79 vending box, a bit more ($175) if you are sure it's 100% original and undamaged.

Save yourself the cash and go buy yourself a severely miscut Ozzie for $20.

  • Thanks to all for all advice & comments. If all looks legit & price is right, I will pick up an extra box to rip & post.

  • Boxes looked good when seeing first hand & price was worth the gamble I thought @ 5/$300 so I took 5 ( for my kids & 1 for me ).
Sad part was the seller told me he received an entire sealed vending case in trade with someone ( 4 weeks ago ) & just recently opened himself to sell the boxes individually. Oh well....

It was a rush to open even though I look more for vintage & pre-war stuff. Attached pix. from some of the better centered HOF'ers & sharper commons in my box .

Box looks legit by scan. Sharp cards, too! Any Ozzies or Nolans?

Great job on the price too!!! $300 for 5 boxes. Wow!!!

  • Thanks. No Ozzies & 1 Ryan with about 85/15 centering L to R unfortunately.. Buyer said $75/box & when I asked best price for 5 he said $300 so I jumped on it.

Ah the memories. As a teen in 1979, I was a Topps dealer. I bought 5 cases of these cases, opened them and collated them into sets. Enjoy!
