Peter "The Man" clears a few things up with the semi-hostile UFC Fast Money crew, including Gartman the Day Trader.

Schiff cracks me up. He advocates debt destruction and deflation, yet preaches hyperinflation.

I think he's a bright guy, but is unfortunately too close to his trading.

He is an interesting man. He is like you see him on camera 24/7 off camera. Last time i had dinner with him (it's been awhile) he was pitching some shares of a Australian pig farm with ties to China or something, something. I thought his mother was going to stab with with a butter knife as he wouldn't stop. I told him that night that with a smile that he was my 4th favorite financial pundit. He quickly asked who the other 3 were without missing a beat. He would have debated them if they were at the table.

I would love to meet with him. I am sure it would be a spirited conversation. I dont disagree with many of his points, but his close-mindedness will be his destruction. He will be just like my retail brokerage customers who swore by CSCO in 2000. They were right about CSCO's business prospects, but very wrong on it as an investment. Schiff will be the captain who stays with the ship. He should have learned something from 2008, but I dont think he did.

Yes, in 2008 he got the story 100% right but the trade 100% wrong. It should have been more humbling. MJ

Being humbled is the great equilizer. If one has never been humbled, in lets say love or the markets, they are doomed to fail in each miserably. Schiff does not appear to be a man that has ever been humbled.

I do recall your meeting with Peter and his mother (and bro?) and the pic you had of the chance encounter, MJ.

Could you re-post that photo? I love his passion and willigness to take on all thoughts.

Sure Miles. He and his brother Andrew stopped by our showroom in NYC to visit their Mom ( she works with me). It was another TV day for him as well. MJ

I like Schiff, I have his book. But Schiff investments took a beating in 2008... just like everyone else.

    Not everyone.imageimage

2008 was a VERY difficult year. Almost everyone stood around like deer in headlights. They were paralyzed. The more conviction you had, the more you suffered. Thats why Schiff didnt see it coming.
