No idea, never been, but the Mall of America is nearby. I would wear riot gear if you go, though, because that is probably a nut house at Christmas time.

What area will you be in? There are still a few shops around. Are you looking for vintage cards? What do you like for food? Pizza, steak, etc. I have lived here all my life and there are a bunch of places I could recommend.

  • If you are looking for the old home plate, don't hit the food court. It's in Nickolodeon Universe (indoor theme park)--not sure where (seem to think it's by the pineapple bouncer but locate the seat on the wall and I think the seat is in left field from the plate). For card shops in the mall, you have Field of Dreams which is limited and overpriced but has stuff to look at. For other shops, Uncommon Sports Cards in Richfield, Three Stars in Roseville and the Frantzen one in Moundsview are the three I know of (and listed in order of proximity to the mall).

I used to live in the Twin Cities area (south of the river). When I was there, I went to The Ballpark in Apple Valley all the time. It's a good place to check out if you are looking for 50s-60s-70s baseball or football cards; plus the owner is a good guy too.

Check out "The Ninth Inning" it's fairly close to Three Stars. Bob is a great guy, and usually has some sweet vintage cards. Check out Fat Lorenzo's if you like pizza!

Card shop in Apple Valley is The Ballpark. Calvin is the name of the owner, he is a good guy to deal with and has a good variety of older cards and memorabilia.

Matt's bar in S. Mpls has a burger called the "Juicy Lucy" it's filled with (HOT) melted cheese and has been voted best burger in Minnesota several times. Fries are also great. Right on Cedar avenue, straight North of Mall of America.

Have fun, buy some cards, eat a lot.image
