USPS Cuts--Possible eBay problems?

News Story

1. If USPS' cuts make first class mail take longer to get to its destination, does anyone else forsee finicky eBay buyers not understanding the changes and slamming people's DSRs for "shipping time?"

2. Will eBay be proactive and try to inform buyers, or will they say "to the hell with the sellers, it will just make less people eligible for their 20% discount?"

3. If the answers to the first two questions are both "no," what steps can sellers take to protect themselves?

I am thinking that these cuts will affect EVERYONE.. so even ebay buyers gotta send stuff out like mortgage's, bills etc and their stuff will take longer to reach their destinations...more important things going on than ebay I would imagine.. If they have to wait for ebay to keep them informed..shame on them

The cuts would probably cause a delay of one day, at most, to most deliveries. I doubt this would cause the sky to begin to fall, but I'm sure some will find reason to point fingers and designate blame.
  • Ebay has been pretty good in the past at advertising shipping delays (port strikes and the Iceland volcano problems come to mind). That won't stop jerks from dinging, but your average person should be fine.
