autograph on sneakers - what type of pen/marker to use?

I have a pair of Air Jordans that I want to get signed in person. I believe the material is synthetic and not natural leather. Any suggestions on the best type of pen and/or marker to use? And what about the tip thickness?
The type of material where I would request the signature is similar to the one in this auction: UDA Air Jordan ebay. As you can see the auto does't come out too clean as the surface is "pebbled/rough". My pair are AJ 13's, and unfortunately the entire shoe is pebbled so there isn't any option to avoid that surface.
