So who plans to visit the Philly Show . . .

. . . and visit the 7 or so dealers that are still allowed to set up? I've got some Holiday gifts to attempt to purchase, so I'll be making the trek tomorrow. I'm completely prepared to be disappointed.

  • The guy I was helping with did the the other show, so I will not be coming up, plus I heard it was pretty poorly attended the last time.
  • Not me. Its not worth the trip anymore.

Just got back from the show. Got Uncle Charlies autograph. Quite a few empty tables. Not nearly the traffic that there has been. I found exactly one dealer that was also set up at the Oaks show last month.

The show is a disaster... A few old timers with the same memorabilia they had back in the Motor Lodge days. Otherwise, it was a few of the same folks from the regular circuit and a few weekend warriors with their shiny chrome inserts. The show had little to no foot traffic as most were there for the autographs.

Parking, access and the entire logistical experience were horrible! Talked to a few dealers and they were split evenly on whether it was going to be worthwhile to continue.

Personally, I told my wife when I got home, that if I mention that I plan to go to the Philly Show again in the next 3 years, she has my permission to knock me senseless with a baseball bat.

All in all, I spent $8.00 on admission, my time and gas and walked out with nothing other than a sour taste in my mouth and the opportunity to talk to a few friends that I don't see very often.

To put it bluntly, Hunt has turned what used to be the greatest local show in the country into a friggin' disaster. They should be proud of themselves (granted, it was losing steam before they bought it).
  • Its not all Hunts fault for sure, ever since they lost their old local and went to Reading it started going downhill. Personally I think the autographs do nothing for the show besides get $ for the promoters. Like you said people go for the auto's and don't spend an extra dime with the dealers who are financing the whole show, and its been like that since the old Vally Forge days. image

Went to Sept and Dec shows.. At least this time, you could park close to the entrance...

I think I might try the Oaks show next, I don't think I will goto Philly next year.... I agree, saw more shiny stuff this show then the last. Have you tried the Oaks show yet?
