1972 signed Topps Roberto Clemente PSA/DNA for trade

I have the following 1972 Topps Roberto Clemente that has been PSA/DNA slabbed available for trade. This is a pretty tough card to find signed, and one sold recently at Heritage in November for $2987.50

November 2011 Heritage Auction

Clemente died on December 31, 1972, and his card was in the 3rd series that year, so there was a severely limited time window for him to sign it. I have this one below available for trade. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate the sig a 5.

If anyone is interested in trade/partial trade and has any one or more of the following, I'd be willing to entertain proposals:

1939 Playball Ted Williams Autographed
1948 Leaf Hal Newhouser Autographed
1948 Leaf Satchell Paige Autographed
1948 Leaf Jackie Robinson Autographed
1949 Bowman Roy Campanella Autographed
1949 Bowman Jackie Robinson Autographed
1949 Bowman Satchell Paige Autographed
1952 Topps Hoyt Wilhelm Autographed
1952 Topps Eddie Mathews Autographed
1963 Topps Willie Stargell Autographed
1970 Topps Pete Maravich Autographed
1970 Topps Thurman Munson Autographed

Here's the Clemente I have available:

There couldn't have been more than a few hundred of those that got signed. And most of those were put in kids' pockets and dinged up or lost. To have one as nice as that has got to be one of a handful at most. Out of my price range, but good luck to you getting top dollar for it. It's not like Clemente is signing any more of them.

One of my favorite players growing up. I always considered it one of those unexplained mysteries of life that he got to exactly 3000 hits before his passing. Amazing player who never really experienced much of an offensive decline, even playing up to his late 30's.

  • I like the trivia question that puts the date as '96 (meaning 1896).

Nice card. I like the fact that it says $11.00 on the back. So someone actually sold it for $11.00 back in the day. I'd say that was $11.00 well spent. LOL

Yeah, and they probably bartered for at least 20% off too, LOL.

Thanks. I still think it's a $3,000 card as evidenced by the Heritage Auction, but I got into it for a REALLY good price, so I don't mind passing along the goodwill to the buyer that I got from the guy that sold it to me. Hopefully the buyer really wanted it for his/her collection rather than a quick flip, but regardless, I'm not greedy so if he decides to sell it, I hope it does awesome for him.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
