Got one I've been wanting for a long time..1964 AL Bombers PSA 9

This is by far one of my favorite cards, being a Tigers fan since childhood. The 1964 Topps AL Bombers featuring Cash, Kaline, Mantle and Maris all on the same cardboard. Very often the picture is angled on the card making it appear to be somewhat miscut. I have been looking for a nicely centered one for a long time and finally won it last night on eBay. Item #380388233268. It was a bit pricy at $835 but then again that is more than $250 below SMR. Some multi-player cards are just cool and this one is right up there.

I had that one on watch but spent my $$ elsewhere instead. Nice card, had I not won some other things I was going large on this one.

  • Wow, great pick-up. Little known fact; that is the only card Topps ever produced to feature the M & M boys (Mantle & Maris) in the same photograph (not including team cards). You'd think with the popularity of those two combined with how many different muti-player cards Topps did there would be another, alas there is not. Congrats on a sweet card.

Not sure if there are others, but this was the first card I thought of when I read your post. Technically it's not in the same photograph, so I guess you are right! LOL

GORGEOUS card! GOOD LUCK! But I think you picked it up right at the SMR average for a PSA "9".

  • Yeah Doug there are a few League Leader cards but as far as photos go the '64 Bombers Best is the one and only. Again, congrats to PSARich on an amazing card. One day I will have one (but probably not in nearly as nice shape) image

Yes, you are right Doug. I had referenced a 7-month old SMR which was at $1100. Quite a SMR drop over that period of time. Still very pleased with pick-up.

    flash2:
Yes, I checked into that. The auction title and scan showed PSA 9 mint. But in the card description it referenced it as 8.5. I contacted the seller to verify the card was PSA 9 as shown and he confirmed it. He apoligized for the misinformation posted later in the auction description. No doubt in my mind it is a high end 9. Anxious to get it to see it first hand.
  • That is a very sharp card. It might be the best I have ever seen.

Outstanding! Multi-player cards are some of my favorites, multi-hof players at a fraction of the price (unless its a 9) image
