What exactly does "repaired" entail? (gold coin in question)

Id love to get my hands on a Charlotte piece of gold, and I love the classic head (and the mark on the obverse). Anyway, they are hard to find.
There is an anacs one on ebay link (I dont mind putting it out there) that is "repaired".
Just curious what exactly this might mean. Was it a piece of jewelry at one point and fixed?
Thanks!

I'm just curious. Doesn't seem as bad as cleaning to me.

The market deems it to be far worse than cleaning.

As you can see, this is the same exact coin that just sold for $1,782.50 on Heritage back in June. Not a bad looking coin, probably worth about $2,000 JMO
