Whale Pack - Just Received

When I learned one of the existing two of these was sold and I missed out on the auction, I was pretty bummed. I was so pleasantly surprised when an opportunity to obtain the other became available. Its owner provided one of the most cordial and smooth transactions ever, and I am so thankful he was willing to part with it. I'm thrilled to share this scan with my fellow pack enthusiasts. It appears the Yount is as nicely centered as the Brett. Thanks again to its original owner; it is definitely in a good home.

wow, what is something like that worth?

The first of the existing two sold on ebay for $2200. I believe it was a BIN. Personally, I would have bid higher if I had to, to win it.

I was willing to bet that more won't be showing up anytime soon; if only for storage/protection purposes in the solid PSA slab, I'd have to imagine anyone who owns one would have it slabbed.

Nice job finding that pack!!! I remember how much you wanted it from the previous thread about it. My guess is that the 2 packs that currently exist wont be seen back on the market for quite a while.

All I can say is wow. I can't believe they actually had packs made with Brett and Yount on them. The Ryan/Carter and Molitor/Murray packs are sweet too!

Back in 1975, Brett and Yount were today's equivalent of having Gregg Gross and Bucky Dent on front and back..

  • Those 75 packs are the holy grail for me! Thanks for sharing!

75 packs were the first my Dad bought for me so I will always have a soft spot for them.

Wow! I'm not really a packs guy but my goodness that Brett/Yount pack is just incredible.
  • Very nice image
  • Amazing!!

What are the odds of that? I'm not a math whiz. 660 card set. 660x660? That'd be 1 in 435,600 packs. Then to find it in a 9 seems pretty amazing.

    Wow.

The odds of Brett or Yount being on top is 1:330, and the same goes for the back. So, I think the odds of that pack (or Yount-Top, Brett-bottom) are 108,900 to 1. Is that right?
  • The graded cello pack segment of the hobby is starting to grab my interest. This thread may just put me into the fun.

That Brett/Yount pack is just nuts. Congratulations to you.

    Hey Matty,

Awesome packs!!! I'm glad you were able to secure the other 75 Brett/Yount cello pack. At least we know where that one will be for awhile.

I wish I had a 75 Brett mini cello to offer you, but Grote buys all 75 mini cellos like they are going out of style. image
