1953 AC Higgins Bob Feller Original

This one is special to me. I found it in my parents' garage when I traveled home a few weeks ago. My dad bought it new with his paper route money and hadn't seen it in the 35 years since he moved into the house.

He told me many stories about it. It was well used. It had been restrung multiple times, but the web strings were broken again. I bought a kit at Dick's, but string size had changed in the last fifty years and I couldn't force it through the grommets. I found the thinner 1/8" string online and restrung it one evening with my wife and son. I oiled it.

I admired my handiwork.

And then I got to use it.

I just wish I were left-handed.

I was so pleased I learned how to include pictures within a post. Looks like I'm going to need to figure out how to size my pictures better. I thought they'd be bigger.

Wow, that is a really cool story. What a way to connect to your father's past.
