Pack collectors Rejoice

My father has decided to sell his "VINTAGE" collection of unopened packs. He's getting ready to retire, and would rather have the money. I tried to talk him out of it, but no dice.

I'll give everyone a minute to sit down, before you view this list.

These boxes are all unopened, and purchased years ago. They've been sitting on a shelf for over 20 years.

12 Boxes of 1990 Donruss Baseball
2 Boxes of 1991 Donruss Series 1
2 Boxes of 1993 Donruss Series 1

He said no one could afford all 16 boxes, so if needed to sell them seperatly.

He's planning on buying a new car with the money...I hope he ment Hot Wheels.

I would like some advice from the "QUALITY PACK COLLECTORS" on the boards. What would be a fair price on these? BBCE wants $8 per box.

Help me out with what a reasonable asking price would be. I have not opened a pack since 1992.

PS- None of the packs have been sent to PSA or GAI for authentication.

  • I get rid of them at $5 a box at shows or ask 25-50 cents a pack.

Their is only 1 problem with that idea. We never have shows any more. The last one I know of was 10 years ago, and it was a flop.

The nearest dealer I know of is 1-1 1/2 hours away. Around these parts dealers always sold cards at book price, no less (they had no problem paying 35-40% of book or less). Now their all gone. On line dealers and greed put an end to dealers around here.

Wow!!! Once everyone finds out about this stash there's gonna be a stampede. Seriously though I couldn't pass up on these if I saw them for $5 a box. Fun ripping material.
  • I plan on picking them up next week. I will post on the B/S/T board once I make sure each box is full, and I figure out a shipping weight.

I just hope these boxes hitting the market doesn't ruin the value of the sets.

BBCE, would love this kind of Quality.

BBCE's buy price for the 1990 Donruss is $3 per box... can't pass that up!

Although it's not the right season, you might seriously consider selling these in a garage sale.
My wife garage sales frequently and she sees people overpaying for this stuff all the time, people who think they are getting a good deal on a whole box of "vintage" cards.
She sometimes calls me when she sees cards and I arrive to invariably see 1989T vending boxes for $20 apiece. Funny thing is they usually sell.

Yes, a garage sale is the way to go--or an ad in the local shopper. You'll have flea market dealers and local collectors who just like cards willing to pay more than you'll get anywhere online, at a show or shop.
  • Garage Sales are not ver big in the addition I live in. I do know some one who runs a Flea Market, that might work out better.

I'm going to offer these gems to the board first. I know how many people on here enjoys rippen junk wax.

Thanks for the ideas. I guess these might not bring the big bucks that he thought they would.image

  • I sold roughly 80 wax boxes of the same era garbage. I got $400 total for everything.

List it on your local Craigslist.
