ENDED- Probstein consignment Owens, Tyson, FFace, Vulgarity, TJ Ford -- ENDED

For the first time, I sent some cards to Rick for consignment. I do want to report that the communication & service has been great and I was pleasantly surprised to see scans of the backs of some of the older cards image

Funny thing is that I found one of the cards on my "All Time Greats" rookie card want list in his other listings so all the funds from my sells will go right back to Rick!

Here are the auctions:

1951 Berk Ross Jesse Owens PSA 6 -- raw eBay purchase that was part of a group sub with burke23

2003 Topps T.J. Ford BGS 9.5 -- duplicate card in my collection

1936 Reemstma Olympics #32 Jesse Owens BVG 2 -- GREAT eye appeal for the grade. Small tear in bottom left edge killed the grade. All the Reemstma cards came from a seller in Germany.

1936 Reemstma Olympics #32 Jesse Owens BVG 5 -- Good centering and eye appeal. It will be interesting to see what the hammer price on this one is. It is very rare to see this card come up in a true auction.

1989 Fleer Bill Ripken FF Error PSA 8.5 -- I collected 3 error cards and am now quitting before it becomes a slippery slope.

1990 Jim Nettles Vulgarity on Bat Knob PSA 10 -- Purchased from fellow board member. The bat knob has "A$$Hole" written on it. I decided to not collect error cards after all. I repeat, I decided not to collect error cards. I repeat...

1987 A Question of Sport Mike Tyson BGS 9 -- I was pissed to find out BGS slabs this as 1987 not 1986 as most collectors and SGC consider it to be. I think the label will kill the hammer price on this one.

1936 Reemstma Olympics #31 Jesse Owens BVG 6 -- this is the 100M dash card.

2003 Topps T.J. Ford PSA 10 -- triples of one of my all time favorite Longhorns

Thanks. If nothing else I like to hear stories from other collectors about their cards.

Here is the card that I won from Probstein: 1933 Goudey Jim Thorpe SGC 30 $286. I am VERY excited about this one. I had placed an early bid of $300.01 and it held. With about 20 minutes to go it was in the $268 range so fell asleep thinking I would not win it. The email win notification was a great way to start Thanksgiving morning.

Here is some VCP info on the Thorpe:

    Grader: SGC
    20 (1.5) $260.55
    30 (2) $286.00
    40 (3) $450.00
    50 (4) $484.00
    60 (5) $612.77

    Grader: PSA
    1 $264.00
    2 $200.99
    3 $477.00
    4 $457.56
    4.5 $511.12
    5 $773.76

The PSA 2 price is very low but here are the details, so something must have been ugly/wrong with that particular 2:
Latest Auction Prices for: PSA 2 - Average Price: $200.99
    Date Auction Price
    1/5/11 eBay $200.99
    8/26/09 eBay $325.00
    1/27/08 eBay $449.44

In the end it really does not matter because this will be in my collection for a long time but I think I got fair to good value. Most of the recent sales of this card have been on the high side of VCP. Plus I love the eye appeal and the crease does not bother me to much

Okay, off the boards for a while. I need to get my brisket ready for tomorrow. Wife cooks the Thursday turkey and I cook the Friday brisket!

Nice Thorpe. If the crease does not bother you then you got a GREAT looking card for the grade! Enjoy it!
    STAY HEALTHY!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
