hehe, you must be disappointed that everything else is hard to sell, right? Bite the bullet and go to Ebay (which is what I'm about to do).
  • i collect paul pierce and steve nash. the only reason i trade for gu is because they are easy to get rid of.

  • For me, since game used and autos are less condition sensitive, it's easier to trade or buy a GU online and not have to worry about every single knick or scratch. With rookies, everyone's so obsessed with it being perfect that I hate to trade fo them sight unseen.
  • auto- ya everything else is hard to sell, man a year or two ago i was to sell my player lots and other singles no problem. now, if i posted on ebay, im only gonna get 5%. thats not anywhere near what i payed for the stuff.

uwftke- i understand what u mean, now that game used, autos, and graded stuff is out, anything that doesnt fit into those categories is pretty much useless. graded stuff i feel is a bunch of crap. i dont like em at all. hell, cards graded 7-8 arent much different from the ones graded 9 or 10. hell the 8's u cant even see any defects, u gotta get ur little magnifying glass to see it. just my opinions.

like i said before, i like game used and autos. hell i even like the low graded(5-7) on the newerstuff. there isnt any very visual defects, and they r cheap pick ups. but thats not all i collect. i love barry sanders. i have over 500 different cards of him. i also collect several other players.

It's not going to get any better either which is why I'm blowing out tons of cards (organizing now). Look at it this way.

Box and Pack buyers: People prefer to buy packs and boxes because of the thrill of openning packs. They spend $50-$200 on a box of cards. After all the packs are openned, they are broke and have a bunch of cards they don't want. So, now they are wanting to ditch the stuff for stuff they want. They no longer can buy because they are broke.

Singles buyers: Since most people rarely want to buy singles, you can get the singles you want at a nice discount. That means for $50-$200 that you would normally spend on boxes or packs, you can get the singles you are looking for and have a lot of cash left over. That cuts down on trading in which is a huge inconvenience such as getting ripped off and getting cards that isn't in the condition they said it is.

Just to show you the logic. Out of all the Final Cuts I've bought, which is all of them, I spent roughly $275-$300 total. Book value is maybe $1500-$2000. So, for the $200 a person spends for 1 to 2 boxes of cards, I've completed (2) Final Cut Jersey sets in which 1 is regular w/ some patches and 1 is all patches (minus J.D. Drew who has no patches and Don Larsen which wasn't intended to be released).

So, people spend all this money for the thrill, just to sell for a huge discount. I guess us single buyers need the box buyers in order to receive the huge discounts. image Somebody has to buy the boxes and open the packs and hand pick the cards for us. image

People will wake up one day. Until then, see you and your cards on Ebay at 80-90% off. image Eventually, that pack busting thrill will get more and more expensive.

PS. I know that is an a$$h0le way to look at it, but I'm just telling you how it really is. Please don't take it the wrong way. just trying to make you think.

It is all supply and demand. If people quit buying as many boxes prices will go down and singles will go up until the prices go low enough that people start buying boxes again. That is why some times cards will go for more right after they come out and start going down a month afterwards. the people who collect Gu should save their money and go buy a full jersey. Hate to see all those game jerseys of the greats get cut up.
Interested in Kobe Bryant, Game Used, Rare Inserts, Rookies, and Autos.

That's a lot of saving. Game used full jerseys will run you roughly $400-$2000 for stars and $200-$300 for rookies and average players.
  • i really only collect players.

  • auto- i see ur point, no offense taken.

8kobe- good way to look at it, i guess i never really put that much time in to coming up with an answer like that. hopefully now that boxes are getting way way too expensive singles will be bought more. although, when they are it will be gu's autos and graded(<--- i hate graded!)

kobecollector- i got em ready, i put-em in a snap tite, but that doesnt fit in my bubble mailer, im gonna have to go get a bigger one.

kbryant- lol, how come its only jbugs and kobe fans that collect player??

    thx for all the response's.

  • I just think GU are cool, but Autographs ain't nothing special.

I myself collect Amos Zereoue, mainly. I am from West Virginia and alot of family is there, grew up watchin all of the Mountaineer's specially Famous Amos.
  • GU and Autos are cool and they are fun to show off to your friends but after a while they will get kinda boring. cardnyou gets a GU ripped up by his cat and doesn't care at all. I am collecting Gasol right now cause I think he will be a great star in the future and his rookie cards will be worth a lot of $$$$$$$$$$. That is just my point of view.
  • I've always liked autographs and game used (which is how I got my name). Reg. cards get boring because there are tons out there and are readily available. What card companies need to do is make the parallels that is #'d to look totally different (even a different photo on the card). This red, green, silver, etc. of the reg. base card is boring.
