icollector.com is just a platform that a dealer can use to run his own auction. In your example, the seller is Silvertowne Auctions, so you should really be concerned about doing business with them. You will not interact with the icollector.com firm other than to place your bid(s) on their site for the dealer's auction.

I've used the site for both live Internet auctions and submitting pre-auction bids for several dealer's auctions. No problems with it.

Edited to add: Be sure to check the terms as some dealers charge a higher buyers premium when bidding via icollector.com to offset their costs of providing it.

Thank you for your response, I had an issue with a similar service is the past. But it's nice to get another opinion.

Some of the sellers that list through icollector.com use hidden reserves, as I have observed directly. No surprise.

I have no experience with that site.

What's in it for the seller, when I'm sure eBay gets exponentially more traffic? Cheaper, I guess?

  • This site coincides with the live auction.
I actually stopped going to the Silvertowne live auction because most of the good stuff sold to the internet, even with the Buyers Penalty. Granted they still charged a 10% BP (I believe) when bidding live, so another 5% isn't bad.
