Well it looks like we have to settle for SEC Tournament Runner-Up this year. But no matter, now the real work begins and I must say we drew some pretty interesting matchups! We might get Western Kentucky in the first round (not counting on it though), a rematch with UConn (who beat us last year) in the second round, and then next week we likely will get another crack at Clown U (who beat us earlier this year) and best of all, we get to whup them blasted Duke boys for the right to go to the Final Four! Then we will likely get another shot at Michigan State (who denied us Final Four trips in 1999 and 2005) and then a rematch with Syracuse (who we beat for the 1996 title) for the 2012 National Championship!
It doesn't get any better than this folks; go get 'em Cats! Bring home #8!!
dook will probably get beat in the second round by Notre Dame or Xavier--if not there, Baylor would probably beat them before kentucky would have a chance. If dookies are not hitting their 3 point shots, many teams can beat them.
Of course, Indiana has already proven they can beat kentucky on a given night (and I would not overlook UConn having a decent chance as well.)
With the way things have been going this past week in college basketball, nobody should be thinking about 2, 3, or even 4 games into the tournament--we saw this weekend that ANYBODY can get beat in March---no one is invincible--not kentucky, Syracuse, Kansas, UNC.....
I feel that by the Sweet 16 round, there will have been more upsets this year than ever in the past. Prediction Brackets will be decimated everywhere.
I collect Vintage Cards, Commemorative Sets, and way too many vintage and modern player collections in Baseball (180 players), Football (175 players), and Basketball (87 players). Also have a Dallas Cowboy team collection.
Well our journey begins today with (surprisingly) Western Kentucky (who I think we should play every year like we do in football). I'm sure we will make quick work of them!
<< <i>The Cats looked unbeatable in the second half. Bring on IU! >>
Indeed! Our first two opponents tried to keep up with us but I knew we'd wear them down in short order. Yes indeed I'm looking forward to us getting another crack at Clown U though I really was looking forward to taking on those blasted Duke boys afterward. No matter, we'll just beat up on Baylor with their weird neon yellow duds.
Well Clown U at least tried to keep things interesting, but even without our soon-to-be MVP for much of the first half, I had no doubt we would convincingly pull away in the end I would've much preferred we had gotten the Duke boys for this next game but that's okay, we'll be more than happy to beat up on those guys with the wierd neon yellow jerseys
And you know what else? We may very well get Loserville and then North Carolina in the Final Four! Won't those be interesting matchups? And I'm sure this congregation knows how we did against both of them.
Yep, you earned a season split against some college kids from IU that preseason were picked to finish 9th in the Big Ten. Congratulations.
"You know we just don't recognize the most significant moments of our lives while they're happening. Back then I thought, well, there'll be other days. I didn't realize that that was the only day."
Well folks, we have now clinched our 15th big blue Final Four banner, baby! And now it's time to bring on LOSERville! Just two more to go until we bring back that big gold trophy to Rupp Arena where it belongs!
Isn't it interesting that back in 1996, Kentucky (coached by Rick Pitino) had to beat UMass (coached by John Calipari) to reach the title game, and now 16 years later, the two coaches meet again with a trip to the title game on the line, only this time Calipari is on Kentucky's side and Benerick is on the opposing sideline. I wonder if either of them could've imagined back in 1996 that they would meet again in 2012 under similar circumstances?
Heels fan here and would have liked to have seen a UK/UNC Championship rematch but alas... So, the question is this: How many will Kentucky lose this year to the NBA? Cal's MO is to get the 1 and dones and then reload (which he has done a helluva job with)
And the other question is: When Cal eventually leaves, how long until UK gets put on probation and is a title (or two) worth the sanctions?
Not trying to hate or anything, but just questions from a fan of lighter blue!
I never had any doubt we'd put LOSERville in their place, even when tried to sneak back into it near the end! It looks like we don't know yet who we'll face but I'm sure we can take either one! We've come much too far to let Kansas or Ohio State beat us now; we are destined to bring home the gold!!
Well folks, it's now intermission and we're up by quite an impressive 14 points! We turn in another effort like that in the next 20 minutes and that big gold trophy is as good as ours!
<< <i>Well folks, it's now intermission and we're up by quite an impressive 14 points! We turn in another effort like that in the next 20 minutes and that big gold trophy is as good as ours! >>
If you're gonna be the top basketball player in the NCAA and a sure bet for the first overall pick in the 2012 NBA draft, you should at least have two eyebrows. Just sayin'.
I tell ya what, Kansas sure tried to sneak back in there the second half, but I had no doubt we weren't gonna let it get away! My wife was so happy for me and we even kissed and hugged each other after we won the title! I can't wait to see our guys come back into Rupp Arena tomorrow (at least we did this in 1996, 1997, and 1998) on the bus with our shiny gold hardware and to hoist that giant blue 2012 NCAA Champions banner where it belongs!
<<I can't wait to see our guys come back into Rupp Arena tomorrow>>
and it will be the last time you will ever see most of them again on that court. MJ
Walker Proof Digital Album Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
Congratulations to Kentucky. I used to loathe Calipari, but as I get older I find my feelings towards him are beginning to soften. And I do think this KY team is made up of some genuinely nice kids, so I'm happy to see them cut down the nets.
