Selling a Reg Set - Whole or Individual?

I'm contemplating selling off my MS Silver Eagle Set to help finance another hobby area (non-coin).

Do sets sell for better prices as a whole or individually?

I want to get the best I can for them (don't we all), but find the idea of a single transaction, package, etc. to be much more attractive.

Any suggestions?

  • I have sold a number of registry sets and have found that sets over $10,000 sell better as individual coins. The one exception is if you have an all time finest that contains only finest possible coins. Good luck.

  • I have sold 2 ASE registry sets and have sold the coins individually. I know folks who have tried to sell the entire set, but didn't get any takers. More trouble but more $$$$. This may not be the case with other types of sets, just my experience with the ASE's.
